TO ABOLISH WAR
GROWTH OF MOVEMENT BRANCH IN AUCKLAND The abolition of compulsory military training and everything connected with war, throughout the British Empire, is the object of the No More War Movement, a branch of which was formed in Auckland last evening. r FHE meeting was presided over by Mr. E. W. Pudney, and there was a large attendance. It was explained that the movement was started in England and that branches had now been formed throughout the Empire. Branches already exist in Christchurch and Napier and others are in process of forming in Wellington and other centres. The following officers were elected: President, Mr. Pudney vice-presidents, Mesdames A. D’Arcy Hamilton and A. M. Cassie, Mr. Hall Skelton; secretaries, Mesdames M. B. Soljak and E. G. Drury; treasurer, Dr. Dukes; executive, Mrs. E. Gill, Mrs. H. Martin, the Rev. G. Jackson, Dr. J. T. Hastings, Messrs. H. Hayward and E. Gill. A public meeting will be held shortly, when arrangements will be made for signing a petition to the Government for the abolition of compulsory military training in New Zealand.
