W.E.A FINANCES
REQUEST FOR SUPPORT DEPUTATION TO NEWMARKET Asking for a renewal of financial support, a deputation from the Workers’ Educational Association waited on the Newmarket Borough Council last evening. Speakers outlined the growth and progress of the association in the Auckland district from 1915 until the present time, and the various activities and educational aims of the association. It was stated that local bodies in Wellington had given much more toward the funds of the association in that district than had the local bodies in Auckland, and it was pointed out that money received was subsidised by the Government.
The good work done by the association was emphasised at the following discussion in council, and it was decided to wait ujitil the estimates were brought down before making any donation, as it was considered that, in that way, probably more could be done for the association.
