CREAM TESTING
GOVERNMENT CONTROL NOT WANTED DAIRYMEN EMPHATIC Should the take over factory cream testing? Such, in effect, was the question before the North Auckland Dairy Conference yesterday afternoon, when a remit was forwarded from the executive desiring the opinion of the conference in regard to the proposal made recently that all factory testing should be done by a Government officer. The chairman, Mr. AY. Grounds, expressed himself opposed to the proposal. One delegate said that the human element entered too much into the testing of cream. It should be eliminated, if possible. A simpler and more reliable testing machine was required. Further speakers expressed the opinion that it was not desirable for the Government to take over what was purely a domestic matter. A resolution expressing disapproval of the proposal that the Government should take over factory cream testing was carried unanimously.
