PLUNKET SOCIETY

MEETING AT TAUMARUNUI Mrs. King presided over the monthly meeting of the Taumarunui Plunket Society executive, when Mesdames Kichter, Johnston, Godfrey, C. R. Moore, Ford, Boles, Hourigan, A. Anderson, and Miss Baker (acting-secretary) were present. Mesdames Worrall, Parkes, Powel, and the secretary, Miss Tomlinson, forwarded apologies for absence. The nurse’s report for the month disclosed a satisfactory position, Though seasonal complaints had been fairly prevalent." Among the babies there had been two very severe cases of whooping cough, and one of dysentery, which had unfortunately had a fatal ending. The nurse paid 371 visits to the office, and 100 visits to homes, in the course of her work during the period. The head office forwarded correspondence regarding the appointment of a new nurse to fill the vacancy caused by Nurse Tapp’s resignation. The executive resolved to allow matters to remain as at present until the services of a permanent nurse could be secured, Xurse Butler having signified her willingness to remain temporarily in the office. It was decided to conduct the refreshment stall at the Taumarunui and Districts Winter Show next month, and a special meeting will be held to make all arrangements for the carrying out of this extensive undertaking. The show is a three-day fixture, ami the executive is hopeful that the financial results of the catering will fce a solid financial gain to the exchequer.
