WINGATUI TRAINING

TRIALS AND COMMENTS Press Association DUX ED IX, Tuesday. The outside of the course proper at Wingatui was open for fast work today, after being closed since the Dunedin Cup meeting. The track provided good going, but was rather slow. The course proper is at present in excellent order for the winter meeting, where jumping is the star attraction of the programme. Glenrowan seemed to be travelling better than Killorna at the end of six furlongs in 1.27 3-5. Salmo Salar and Little Queen galloped a mile and came over the last seven furlongs in 1.43. Salmo Salar has been most patiently trained and allowed ample time to furnish into racing condition. Little Queen has the gift of galloping and always shapes well in her work. Circulation, who is a free galloper, came over the last six of eight furlongs in 1.24 2-5. Best Policy, who was fancied for his race at Ashburton, got through a useful task. He is on the improve and may have failed last week through the straggling start which saw the field spread after the rise of the barrier. Coming Ori Royal Saxon went a solid mile and covered the last six furlongs in 1.24 1-5. Royal Saxon bears an improved appearance since he won at the recent -Oamaru meeting. Overdrawn and Waving Corn concluded six furlongs in 1.22, and registered a nice gallop. Filosol and Narrative ran seven furlongs in 1.42 3-5, and Te Maui .required 1.26 to get over six furlongs.. Dubious was schooled over four fences and shaped well. Antrim Boy and Valves jumped four flights of hurdles in 1.17 1-5. and both gave a satisfactory display. Broadfield and Frasquita were finishing better than Handy over half a mile in 54 3-5. Amourette and Paper Boy have been scratched, for all engagements at the Dunedin meeting. Aberfeldy has been struck out of his engagement in the June Hurdles. C. Emerson has been retained to ride Royal Saxon in the Birthday Handicap. He won the Invercargill Cup on the Saxby gelding.
