CARLTON CROQUET CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING HELD The annual meeting of the Carlton Croquet Club, presided over by the president, Mrs. Hamilton, was favoured with a good attendance. The secretary’s and treasurer’s reports showed the past year’s operations had resulted successfully, both socially and financially. The condition of the club’s grounds at Epsom during the past season was the subject of much favourable comment, the playing surface being well maintained even to the season’s close. The efforts of the various committees were well supported by the members of the club as a whole, and the enthusiasm of the women in connection with the raising of funds by card afternoons and other means was very marked and resulted in a good credit balance for the year. During the season considerable association tournament play had taken place at the club’s greens with much satisfaction to both the management and players.

An outstanding performance by one of the club’s members, Mrs. Davy, is worthy of special mention, this lady having won the Auckland Croquet Association’s singles championship as well as the singles handicap. Trophies for the next season were presented by the following:—Mesdames Hamilton, Perry, C. Cucksey, E. Cueksey, Browne, Cottrell, Keatley, Davy, Rennie and Tutt.

The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: —President, Mrs. Hamilton; vice-presidents. Mesdames C. and E. Cucksey, Cottrell, Browne and Tutt; hon. secretary, Mrs. W. Perry; assistant secretary, Mrs. Page; hon. treasurer. Mrs. T. Wilson; general committee, Mesdames Aicken, Jennings, S3’ers and officers of the club; green committee, Mesdames Hamilton, Laurie and Earle; match committee, Mesdames Browne, Davy and Hamilton: delegates to the Auckland Croquet Association, Mesdames Perry. Hamilton and Dav3’.

OTAHUHU CLUB

Mrs. J. Gillies presided over a large attendance of members of the 23rd annual meeting of the Otahuhu Croquet Club. The balance-sheet showed the finances of the club to be in a strong position.

The election of officers resulted as follow’s: —President, Mrs. A. Pearse; vice-presidents, Mesdames Elliott and Ogilvie: secretary, Mrs. Kimber: treasurer, Mrs. James Todd; general committee, Mesdames Gillies, Hickson, Davis, Taylor, Piper and Walters; match committee, Mesdames- Gillies, Mclvor, Woods and Morton; green committee, Mesdames Piper and Parsons; delegates to the association, Mesdames Pearse and Gillies.
