PERSONAL. —In command of the cargo steamer Lawbeath, at present discharging sugar from Cuba at Chelsea Wharf, is Captain D. A. Macfadyen. With him are the following officers:—Chief officer, Mr. J. ISLAND FRUIT STEAMER. —Leaving Auckland on Thursday, the Union Company’s Island fruit steamer Waipahi loads at Rarotonga, Mauke, Atiu, Mangaia and Aitutaki for this port. TASMANIA REPORTED. —Cable advice received by the New Zealand Shipping Company states that the Tasmania reached Panama on May 21 and sailed on the same day in continuation of her voyage from New Zealand to London and YVest Coast ports of Great Britain, via Newport News. DOCKING MOVEMENTS. —The Northern Steamship Company’s vessel Matangi and the Melanesian Mission steamer Southern Cross undocked early this morning and berthed at Central YVharf. The sloops, H.M.S. Laburnum and Y r eronica, then went into dock. NO WORD FROM VESTVARD. —The Norwegian vessel Y’estvard, bound from Porth Arthur (Texas) with case oil, lias not yet sent any advice as to the time of her arrival here. Her local agents, Messrs. Robert Millar and Co., expect her any day now. WIRRAL FOR BUNKERS. —The local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the A. and A. Line’s chartered steamer YVirral, which left Auckland early this afternoon for Port Alma, Townsville, Noumea and ltabaul, will call at Port Kembla en route for bunkers. BARON MACLAY HOVE TO. —At 5.40 o’clock this morning Messrs. R. Millar and Co. received a radio message from the master of the Baron Maclay inward bound from Galveston, that his ship was hove to in a heavy south-easterly gale, 100 .miles east of Cuvier Island. As this island is 69 miles from port the Baron Maclay is not expected to arrive before tonight or early tomorrow morning. SOUTHERN CROSS DELAYED.— The Melanesian Mission Board reports that the steamer Southern Cross had to undock this morning and go back to her previous berth at Central YY T harf without having shipped her rudder again. One of the experts engaged in repairing it has influenza and the job has therefore been held up. It is not expected that the Southern Cross will be able to dock again before Monday next as the sloops. H.M.S. Laburnum and Veronica are now in dock. The vessel is now scheduled to sail for the Solomon Islands oti .Tune 12. Messrs. Watkins and YVallis are the agents.

KARTIGI AT WELLINGTON.—The local branch of the Union Company has been advised that the Kartigi arrived at Wellington yesterday from Sydney, via Newcastle and Port Kembla. The vessel is to clear Wellington on Thursday for Gisborne and Nelson.

GOLDEN CROSS SAILS. —The O. and O. Line’s steamer Golden Cross left Auckland at 4.30 p.m. yesterday for Honolulu and San Francisco, but owing to very heavy weather, returned to port last evening and anchored off Devonport. She cleared port again at 9.15 a.m. today.

FLOWERGATE COMlNG.—Henderson and Macfarlane have been advised that the steamer Flowergate sailed from Nauru Island yesterday with a full cargo of phosphates for discharge at Auckland, She is due here on June 8.

POOLTA LEAVES SYDNEY.—CabIed news has been received by the Union Company that the PooJta, from Clarence River, Port Stephens and Newcastle, left Sydney at 6 p.m. last Friday foi* New Plymouth, Nelson, Wellington, Timaru and Bluff. She is due at New Plvmouth on Thursday.

CARGO FROM LIVERPOOL.—The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company advises that the Ilaranga, instead of the Tairoa, will leave Liverpool on July 6 with general • cargo to discharge at Auckland. Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and Bluff. She is due at Auckland on August 13.

ROTORUA POSTPONED.—The departure of the New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Rotorua, from Wellington for Southampton and London. via Panama, has been postponed from 5 p.m. tomorrow until daylight on Thursdav. Passengers are to embark at Wellington at 8 o’clock tomorrow evening.

MATANGI FOR NEL SON.—Russell and Somers advise that the Northern Company’s Matangi, which has been chartered by the Anchor Company to relieve the Ngaio and Arahura in the NelsonWellington ferry service, leaves Aucklan on June 5 for Nelson. Cargo for Neliand on June 5 for Nelson. Cargo for Neiat Auckland for the Matangi.

KAPONGA FROM SOUTH AUSTRA-LIA.-—Radio advice received by the local office of the Union Company states that the Kaponga, en route from Adelaide, Edithburg and Melbourne, is due at Wellington tomorrow. She is to leave Wellington on Thursday for Auckland and Portland, to discharge the remainder of her cargo

CAMBRIDGE’S MOVEMENTS.—Leaving Wellington tomorrow for Napier and Auckland, the Federal steamer Cambridge is due here about Sunday next to complete her loading for London, Avoiimoutli, Liverpool and Glasgow'. The local agents, N.Z. Shipping Company, expect to dispatch the vessel from this port about June 5.

REM U ERA’S PROGRAMME.—On completion of her discharge of London cargo at Auckland, tlie N.Z. Shipping Company’s liner Remuera commences loading here and leaves on Saturday for Napier, thence Lyttelton and Wellington, to fill up- The liner is scheduled to clear Wellington finally on June 22 for Southampton and London, via Panama.

lONIC’S AGENTS.—Confirmation has been received by L. D. Nathan and Co. that the White Star finer Tonic, en route from London, left Southampton p.m. last Saturday for Auckland, where she is due on July 2. The liner has passengers and mails from Southampton for disembarkation at Auckland, and cargo from London for discharge at Auckland and Wellington.

HUNTINGDON DELAYED.—Advice has been received by the local office of the New r Zealand Shipping Company that the loading of the Federal steamer Huntingdon at Gisborne has been delayed by bad weather and the vessel was unable to leave there last evening for Auckland. Her date of arrival at Auckland is therefore very uncertain. The Huntingdon completes her loading at Auckland for London, Avonmouth, Liverpool and Glasgow’.

SYDNEY STEAMERS. —The Huddart, Parker’s Ulimaroa arrived at Wellington today from Sydney, and the Marama from Wellington, and the Maunganui from Auckland reached Sydney at 5 a.m. and 6.30 a.m. today respectively. The Ulimaroa leaves Wellington at noon on Friday for Sydney and the Marama and the Maunganui sail from Sydney at 3 p.m. the same day for Auckland and Wellington. All the three vessels are due at their arrival ports next Tuesday.

SUSSEX IN PORT.—Testerda?’ afternoon the Union Company’s chartered steamer Sussex arrived at. Auckland and berthed at the King’s Wharf to unload Eastern produce from Calcutta, Rangoori, Penang, Singapore and Samarang. She is to sail at 2 p.m. tomorrow for Wellington. Lyttelton and Dunedin to complete discharge.

After leaving Samarang for Auckland on April 26 a fire broke out in No. 4 hold and the Sussex bad to put back to port. Before the fire was extinguished the hold had to be flooded with water, which also filled No. 5 hold. The vessel went to Sourabaya and unloaded about 1.600 tons of damaged cargo. She resumed her voyage on May 8 and experienced fiD° weather to Auckland. The amount of general average to be paid on account of the damage and delay has not yet been announced.
