AMBULANCE WORK
RECORD YEAR CLOSES REVIEW of activities Auckland easily leads the other New Zealand cities and towns in the work carried out by the St. John Ambulance, according to the annual report recently issued. The report shows that, so tar is Auckland is concerned, the year has been a record one in nearly eTen department. The amount of rrork done has steadily increased and th, amount of support received, both hr financial aid and by members' wort, has been greater than ever betore The ambulance division contains 57 members and four fine motor amtralances, as against M ellington s 5. members. These ambulances hate carried 1.264 patients and have covered 10.054 miles, while altogethe--10 01T services were retmered to patients. The work has become so extensive in the city that it has beer decided to enlarge and practically re build the Brigade Station in Rutland Street. The nursing divisiou has maintained a constant service on the hoi kev grounds throughout the district, and similar divisions have recenti: been formed at IVhangarei, Gisborne and Hamilton. Ambulance units have also been formed at Dargaville, Rotorua and Onehunga. To the credit, too. of the National Reserve Division is th? formation of the first cadet div.sioa in Auckland, which was completed early this year. The report mentions the competitions which were held in Auckland on Easter Saturday, and announces that service medals for conspicuous service to the order and its departments have been awarded to Corporal G. V. Green, of the Auckland Division, and to Lady Ambulance Officer E. McDowell, of the Auckland Nursing Division. A service certificate, for fire years’ service, has also been awarded to Private IValter Easton, of the Anteland Division.
