MT. EDEN RESERVOIR
RAPID PROGRESS MADE COLLAPSED WALL REPAIRED The new reservoir on Mount Eden is now taking shape and will be completed by the Fletcher Construction Company, Ltd., within the contract time, which expires in November. Replacement of the wall which collapsed, releasing a million gallons of water, some months ago, is now well under way. The wall will be 21ft high and of special construction. The partition has been completed to a height of 14ft. The greater portion of the floor of the new reservoir has been concreted, and the walls have been constructed to an average of 10ft out of the completed height of 21ft.
The new reservoir, which will have a total capacity of 3,600,000 gallons, will be divided into two compartments to provide better facilities for the control of the water and for cleaning purposes. Under the scheme one of the two reservoirs formerly used will be retained, the new reservoir covering the site of the other.
