PRIME MINISTER’S TOUR Press Association NELSON, Friday. T li© Prime Minister, Sir Josepli Ward, was accorded a most enthusiastic welcome at a civic reception in Nelson this afternoon. There was a large attendance of citizens, and speeches of welcome by the "Mayor Mr. W. J. Moffatt, the chairman of the Waimea County Council, Mr J Corder, and others. The Minister of Education, the Hon. H. Atmore, also received a great ovation. Replying, Sir Joseph Ward referred to the fact that it was Empire Day, commemorating the birthday of Queen Victoria, in whose reign the advancement and development of the Empire was so marked. Queen Victoria did so much in that direction that it was right and proper that her memory should be commemorated for all time.
