TIKI TALISMAN

GIFT TO MR. RUSHWORTH Mr. H. M. Rushworth, M.P. for Bay of Islands, now possesses a valuable talisman. Delegates to the Auckland provincial farmers’ conference gave it to him. It is an old Maori greenstone tiki. Mr. A. A. Ross, the conference president, presented the tiki to Mr. Rushworth, saying that it was a talisman for the first representative in Parliament of the Country Party. The tiki, small but obviously a valuable relic, was found on Ahipana Beach. North Auckland, 30 years ago.
