BRIGHT TENNIS DANCE

NGATIRA CLUB HOLDS SUCCESSFUL ANNUAL FUNCTION PRIZES PRESENTED The X'gatira Tennis Club held its sixth annual ball last evening in the Click Clack Cabaret, the function proving very bright and successful. The cabaret was gaily’ decorated with streamers and a very’ jolly evening was spent dancing to the excellent music provided by Mr. Cly'de Howley’s orchestra. Mr. Norman Till, the club president, presented the cups and trophies won during the year. The prize-winners were Miss Croft, Miss Young, Mr. R. Gilmour, Mr. C. Williams, Mr. C. Jackson and Mr. C. Collins. Among those present were: Airs. Norman Till, wearing black georgette and lace with red spray’. Mrs. Lobley, who wore silver lame and ivory frilled tullej Miss M. Miss Rutli Murray, in »iile green crepe de chine and lace. SATIN AND GEORGETTE Miss Beryl Cordes, in pistache green satin beaute and georgette. Miss Bellamy, wearing sea foam green lame and crepe fleuri. Miss Irene .Tenlcin, whose frock was of rose pink chiffon velvet. Miss Hitchens wearing peach coloured taffeta and deep cream lace. Miss C. Hulme, whose apricot lace frock was worn over self-toned satin beaute. . Miss G. Bond, in honey-coloured ring velvet*and georgette. Miss M. Johnston, wearing a dainty' frock of leaf green georgette and tulle. Miss Young, in cloth of gold and amber coloured tulle. Miss Holland, whose frock of lotus blue satin beaute was appliqued with pink and blue flowers. Miss IC. Peek, who wSs f recked in peach pink taffeta. Miss M. Croft, who was ir> powder *ulue taffeta appliqued with flowers. Miss J. Croft, wearing palest priroroa# crepe de chine. Miss 'Casey, in flame coloured georgette. Miss Myrtle Hughes, in an Ivory taffeta gown with shoulder spray of flowers. Miss Inwood, wearing shell pink georgette with relief of silver. DIAMANTE TRIMMED Miss Page, whose gown of lido blue was trimmed with diamante. Miss T. Truman, in black lace, worn over flesh - tinted chiffon. Miss Whiley. who wore a period gown of larkspur blue taffeta. Miss A. Wain, in orange - taffeta relieved with lotus blue. Miss Madge Arus, frocked in pompadour pink georgette with tiered skirt. SWANSON WOMEN’S INST. The monthly meeting of the Swanson Women’s Institute was held in the hall on Wednesday evening. There was a good attendance, most of the members being present. After the business of the meeting was done Mrs. G. Taylor gave a demonstration on crayon picturing, which was very interesting and instructive. Mrs. Berry, delegate at the bi-annual meeting of the A.P.F.W.1., read the report from that meeting. The secretary was asked to write and convey the S.W.I. members’ sympathy to Mrs. Strah’an, who has been ill with influenza. The dance giveh by the institute on the 4th inst. was a great success. •
