OVERHAUL OF MATANGI

It is reported that three engineers belonging to the Northern Company have received notice to sign on the vessel next Monday. The Matangi was built for an Australian company in 1908 and was used on the Brisbane coast, her name being Mourilyan. She is a vessel of 1,349 tons gross with a length of 220 feet, breadth 36 feet, depth 11 feet, and was built by A. Stephen and Sons. Ltd., Glasgow'. Until recently the Matangi was used on the Auckland-Tauranga run. but owing to the falling off of trade she was relieved by the Ngapuhi. which in turn was superseded by the auxiliary schooner Ronaki.
