REFORM ORGANISERS
MEETING OF SUPPORTERS ADDRESS BY LEADER | Taking advantage of the Right Hon. j. G. Coates’s visit to Auckland an I informal meeting of Reform support - j ers was held in the Lewis Eady Hall i (in Monday evening. The attendance | was large and abundant evidence of j support was forthcoming, j The chairman, Mr. J. Robertson, said the meeting was called following requests of supporters, who felt that the time had arrived to discuss the present political situation, and to enable all past adherents, together with many new supporters, to discuss the most desirable methods of furthering the interests of the Reform policy. Mr. Coates said that as far as Reform was concerned, party advantage would never be placed before the interests of the Dominion. That the future of Reform was bright was evidenced by the steadfast adherence of older members of the party, and particularly by the offers of active assistance from younger people throughout the Dominion. The party was glad to welcome these active workers, and it was certain there could be made a great mobilisation of the younger brains, which would add new strength to the movement and give it an impetus which could not be resisted. Mr. Coates informed the meeting of the activities of the Reform organisation in other parts of the Dominion, and expressed his pleasure at the j large numbers of old supporters who j had actively worked during campaigns ! and who now’ wished to ally themselves i in future activities. j The following resolutions were car- ; ried unanimously: | (1) “That this representative meet- ! ing of Reform supporters in the Auckj land Province, reaffirms its allegiance j to the New Zealand Reform Deague and I its policy.” I (2) “That this representative meeting of members of the Auckland Provincial Branch of the New Zealand Reform Deague places on record its high appreciation of the services rendered to the Reform cause by the Right Honourable J. G. Coates and its full confidence in him as head of the organisation.” (3) “Realising that the Reform policy is sound and in the best interests of the people and the Dominion, we of this meeting pledge ourselves to cooperate with any movemejnt or organisation necessary to advance the cause of the party, and with that end in view offer ourselves to asms*.”
