SAVING SOULS—AND FOURERS
In the ranks of the Warwick- j shire cricket team, in the days gone by, there was a Church of England minister named Thornton. He was a good and enthusiastic cricketer, his speciality being his fielding at mid-off. Visiting America once with a team, the local paper printed the following remarks: “If the little parson by the name of Thornton, fielding at mid-off, can save souls with the same celerity and certainty that he does fourers, then heaven must be an overcrowded community/'
