RAID THIS MORNING ASSISTANT ALSO FINED Another bookmaker stated to have been in “a big way” in business was fined £IOO at the Police Court this morning. His assistant was fined £lO. The two men were arrested following a raid this morning by DetectiveSergeant McHugh at No. 7 Union Buildings, Customs Street. William Alfred Mackay was the man who was fined £IOO by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M. Mackay was charged with using premises as a common gaming house. Detective-Sergeant McHugh, when he visited the premises, found betting material there. It was mentioned that Mackay had been fined £75 about a year ago. Nothing was known previously against Keith Wynyard Haynes, the man who was found assisting Mackay.
