CHINESE NATIONALISTS CONFER DELEGATE RETURNS Chinese Nationalists —members pf the Kuo Min Tang—gathered in Sydney recently to discuss questions concerning the operations of the party in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. Delegates attended from far and near. New Zealand was represented by Mr. Y. S. Chan, of Greenwood’s Corner, who returned by the Ulimaroa from Sydney yesterday. Mr. Chan was also one of the three delegates deputed to go to Brisbane to meet the new Consul-General for China, Mr. F. T. Sung, who is considered to be one of the idols of the Republican Chinese. He was educated in England. One of the most interesting delegates to the Kuo Ming Tang Conference was Mrs. W. Lee, of Darwin, the first Chinese woman delegate to a conference in Australia. The delegates to the conference pledged their support of the National Government of the Republic of China* in Nanking, and also the aid of the Kuo Min Tang in Australia and New Zealand to suppress the Kwangsi militarist faction headed by ,Li Chi Sen. Mr. Chan, the New Zealand delegate, was very proud to have been chosen for the trip. He has returned with a large bundle of newspaper clippings concerning doings of the conference and reports of the speeches of the new Consul-General. Most of all. however, he prides the photograph of himself and his companion delegates photographed with Mr. Sung.
