KING’S BIRTHDAY TOURNEY ENTRIES CLOSE MAY 27 Women hockey players in Auckland are to hold their seven-a-side King’s Birthday tournament as usual this *year. Entries close on Monday. May 27. This decision was made at a meeting of the executive of the Auckland Ladies’ Hockey Association held on Tuesday under the presidency of Miss P. H. Dawson. ATx*. F. J. Nicholson, vice-president, attended and delegates representing Waipa and AVliangarei Sub-Associa-tions were also present. An application for affiliation from tho Waikato Association was granted and the appointment of Miss M. Raisher as delegate was approved. The Manurewa dub was given permission to adopt a uniform consisting of a navy blue gym. dress, white blouse and purple and gold striped waist and head f^ands. Members of the executive will challenge for a return match with the Referees’ Association to be held on June 3. The Whakatane Association was given permission to participate in the Aard Cup competition at Rotorua. The question of the affiliation of collegiate teams was again deferred pending receipt of their requirements. It was agreed to countersign Rotorua’s application for direct affiliation to the New Zealand Ladies’ Hockey Association.
