A patent steriliser was switched on, and a few minutes later a terrific explosion occurred. A male cleaner in the room was thrown to the floor. The reinforced concrete floor was lifted bodily six inches. The solid brick walls were cracked and the medical instruments shattered. It is surmised that a leakage in the steriliser caused the explosion.
