RACE PERMITS WANTED
DEPUTATIONS TO MINISTER Press Association ELTHAM, Monday. The Hon. P. A. de la Perrelle, Minister of Internal Affairs, called at Eltham in the course of a round-the-mountain trip. After visiting the Opunake Racing Club’s course at Pihama and receiving a deputation requesting an extra permit, the Minister was met by the Mayor, Mr. I. J. Bridger, and a number of citizens, who extended him a hearty welcome. A deputation from the Eltham Racing Club, at a private meeting, placed before the Minister a request for a permit for a totalisator meeting, and promised to supply full particulars regarding the property and financial position of the club. On his part, the Minister promised to forward a reply as soon as he. had considered the details. which were to be forwarded.
