RAILWAY DUPLICATION URGED The Papukura Chamber* of Commerce met on Wednesday evening, Mr. Alfred Willis presiding. It was resolved to send a deputation to the Alinister of Railways, and the general manager of railways, Mr. H. H. Sterling, as soon as opportunity offers, to urge upon them the pressing necessity of duplicating the line from Papatoetoe to Papakura. Numerous complaints were madd with regard to irritating delays in connection with the telephone service. The chairman, Air. Alf. Willis, and the secretary. Air. G. F. AlcDonald, were appointed to interview the postmaster on the subject. The chamber received particulars <n Pukekohe’s community lighting system, which worked out at £3 10s per annum for a 100- watt lamp, £4j* for a 150-watt lamp, and £5 for a Jwwatt lamp. On the motion of the chairman, it was decided to ask the Auckland Power Board to supply quotes lor a similar system in Papakura. ..
