Silver Paper was again responsible for the best gallop of the morning, running seven in 1.315, the first three in 36J, and four in 49£. Tom Byrne covered five in 1.6, aqd Comical four in 54. Reremoana, looking fit, was given strong pacework. (Toy Germ did not impress when he ran four in 55&. After breakfast, Jeannette was given pacework, going very scratchily. She pulled up lame. Kahu Ariki was better than Dimmer over four in and Cliarmaline and Queen’s Choice took 1.36 for seven. Half-mile Sprints Admiral Drake ancl Imperial Fame ran four in 52i, and King Manu, Tan, and Havana finished as named over four in 54. White Fang had the better of Higli Court at the end of seven in 1.35. Pale Star (McGovern) was too good for Maunga (Wairoa) over a round of hurdles. Irish Court covered five in 1.95, Tanagra four in 54£, Keen four in 54, Gordon Swift and Birklad lour in 54£. Auda and My Own, both ridden out, took 52 1-5 for four. Lucky One left lour behind in 52£, Kimbo taking 545. Bernera took 1.6 for five, and Moa Bird covered four nicely in 525. Interest was aroused when the Cup horses, Cashier, Tresham, and Fapatu, went to gallop a mile, Cashier having a decided advantage at the finish in 1.49. Papatu, finishing without life, was ahead of Tresham crossing the line. Miss Ransom and Epistle finished well ahead of Good Sport over half a mile in 515. Great Charter, moving _ slowly off the mark, ran four in 51 3-5, his finishing effort being most impressive. Kinross was always going better than Thrift over seven in 1.34 4-5. Gascony, moving freely, by running four easily in 505, impressed.
