Business at mid-day: On 'Change— Bank of New Zealand, 625. Reported —Renown Collieries, 17s 3d. • * * In the banking group, the market for Commercials of Australia, which has been gradually moving up over the past month or so, touched 30s in the South yesterday. This morning, buyers had a firm offer in at 30s, with sellers asking 30s 3d. At yesterday’s selling price the return, based on the latest dividend, would be £3 per cent. New Zealands are slightly easier,

with sales at the mid-day call at 3d under yesterday’s market. Coals are receiving slightly more attention. Renown ordinaries, which have been more or less neglected for the last two months, and have not seen a sale since the second week in March, were dealt with outside the room this morning at 17s 3d, 3d under the previous recorded price. Pukemiros, dealt with at 65s this morning, are slightly under the cum-dividend level. In the miscellaneous section, Sanfords, Ltd., hold their recent improved strength, and the preference scrip were sought at par this morning, compared with a market at 19s a little over a week ago. A slightly better demand has set in for Farmers’ Trading ordinaries. buyers offering Id more than the price at the time of the last recorded sale, without drawing a seller below 8s 9rl. Waiki mining scrip is attracting more attention, with holders asking 14s this morning. The shares met with a fairly widespread demand at up to 13s 9d. The big parcels, which came on the market a month or so ago and were partly responsible for the weakness in the market, have mostly been disposed of. and dealings at the moment are largely cohfined to small parcels.
