Tho Manunui Pigeon Club’s final race of the second series was fiown from Palmerston Xorth for a trophy donated by Mr. A. E. Perry. Results: —R. Patterson’s Rollis, 1,054.4 yards a minute, 1; J. Whittaker’s Billikins, 1,051.8yd5, 2; D. Wilson’s Ceremony, 1,050.5yd5, 3; J. Davis’s Desert Glow, 1.041.4yd5, 4; D. Andrews’s Stanhope, 1.036.6yd5, 5. For Mrs. A. Olsson’s trophy the club will fly first and second series combined in the next race, from Papakura. Competing for a silver teaset presented hi’ the Southern members of the club (Messrs. 11. Lilburn, M. Cornwall. W. Christensen, H. Turner and J. C.
Curtis), the Ohura Gun Club conducted a very interesting meeting. The result for the tea-set event of ten birds was: H. Kallil, six breaks. 1; H. Cameron, 2 (second prize of £3); T. Worthington, 3 (third prize, £1). Two five-bird handicap sweepstakes resulted: Xo. 1. S. Watts and J. Curtis tied with four breaks, and divided; Xo. 2, S. Watts I, T. Worthington 2. At the monthly meeting of »he Ohura County Council, exception was taken by Cr. Jebb to the action of the Taumarunui Chamber of Commerce in allegedly inviting private individuals to the conference dealing with the proposed Central Land Board, and passing over the County Council. which was the official body. Cr. Jebb considered the action a “slur” «>n the council, which passed a resolution that the King Country Advancement League was the proper body to deal with the suggested land board. The Taumarunui County has resolved to lend the chamber its support to the scheme.
