Thirteen Wagons Strew Rail Tracks

GOODS TRAIN WRECKED SMASH IN THE SOUTH Press Association TIMARU, Monday. As the result of a wagon jumping the line an express goods train from Dunedin to Christchurch came to grief at Pareora in the early hours of this morning, 13 wagons being strewn about the station yard in a mass of wreckage. One wagon was smashed to matchwood. The guard, who was riding in the rear van, jumped clear as the van overturned and escaped unhurt, with the exception of minor abrasions. All the others escaped uninjured. The accident caused no interruption of the traffic, trains passing the , wreck by loop lines.
