Crowd Expected at Air Pageant

ARRANGING TRANSPORT MEETING OF EXECUTIVE An astounding degree of public interest is being shown in the Auckland Aero Club’s pageant to be staged at Ihumatao next Saturday. In order to cope with the large attendance expected, it was decided at last evening’s meeting of the committee of the aero club to form an enclosure sufficient to accommodate from 30,000 to 40,000 spectators. pOMPLETE traffic arrangements were entered into at the meeting and it was announced that arrangements had been made with various bus companies for the conveyance of enthusiasts from the city to the airdrome. Buses will run from Commerce Street and both those travelling via Great South Road and Onehunga, will stop for passengers en route. It was decided to construct a bridge across the gully at the airdro.X,' to enable motorists to park their cars close to the spot where the activities of the pageant will take place. It was mentioned that as many of the spectacular events would take place at a low altitude, and will be only viewed from the airdrome, those who intend to line the roadway with the hope of getting a free show will be sadly disappointed. The club secretary, Mr. L. W. Swan, was appointed official organiser and will be in complete control of the pageant. A photograph of a Fairy F 3 biplane, the fastest bombing machine in the world and one capable of attaining a speed of IGO miles an hour, was presented to the committee. It was announced that the New Zealand Gow ernment had ordered one of these planes, and it was due to arrive at the Hobsonville Air Base in the near future. The committee received notification of the presentation of a cup for the aerial Derby by Captain Euan Dickson. of the Eden Motor-body Wcrk3. MOCK BATTLE MOTH TAKES PART One of the Auckland Aero Club’s Moth planes was used to-day in connection with a mock battle and various military manoeuvres staged by the Auckland Mounted Rifles at Waiuku. . „ . Captain Jack Seabrook, a pilot member of the Aero Club, piloted the machine.
