MANUREWA TOWN BOARD

The action of the chairman of the Manurewa Town Board in instructing: the town clerk to nominate Mr. R. B. Todd. Mayor of Otahuhu, as the board’s candidate for the War Memorial Museum and Institute Council, was approved at last evening’s meeting of the Manurewa Town Board. A notice of motion by Mr. W. Ferguson, that the divisional works committees be abolished, and a general committee, comprising the whole board, be appointed to supervise the whole district, was deferred for consideratio# till the next meeting of the board. Mr. A. C. A. Sexton was appointed valuation assessor for the town board district. The clerk was instructed to ask the Auckland Chamber of Commerce to urge the necessity of the duplication of the south suburban railway line from Papatoetoe to Papakura, and to ask the Railway Department to arrange for. the terminus of the suburban traffic to be on the site of the present Auckland railway station. The Manurewa Rugby Union Football Club was granted permission to use Jellicoe Park for the playing of competition matches. The clerk reported that the revenue for the year totalled £2,901 3s Bd, and expenditure £2,809 16s 4d, showing a credit balance of £9l 7s 4d for the year’s working.
