PERSONAL. —Air. G. M. Schofield, third officer of the Waikouaiti, has been transferred to the Manuka in a similar capacity, relieving Air. D. A. Menlove for instructions. v Mr. R. Allan, second officer of the Kaimanawa, has been granted holidays,' and his place is being taken by Mr. P. D. Thompson.. Mr. L. B. Ehlert has joined the R.M.S. Niagara, as senior third officer, relieving Mr. A. V. Knight for holidays. Mr. A. Russell has completed his holiday, and is rejoining the R.M.S. Makura as chief officer this trip. Mr. R. B. Dennison, chief officer, is proceeding on holidays. Mr. C. R. Carlyon, late third officer of the Waipiata, has been granted holidays. Mr. L’. J- G. Ward, chief engineer of th& Makura, is being relieved for holidays at Sydney. Air. G. Earl has joined the Wahine as acting third engineer, after being ashore on. holiday leave. Mr. G. H. MAUI POMARE SAILING— At five 1 o'clock this afternoon Spedding, Ltd-, hopes to dispatch the Government motorship Maui Pomare for Niue Island and Apia, Samoa. HORORATA AT PANAMA. —Tim New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Hororata is reported to have reached Panama last Friday, en route from Auckland to London. She was dispatched 'from Auckland on March 21. PAKEHA LEAVES MONTEVIDEO.— Cabled news- has been received by the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company that the Pakeha arrived at Montevideo on Thursday morning from Wellington, and sailed again yesterday morning for London. She left Wellington on March 23. KARAMEA AT SUVA. —A cable message to the ShaW. Savill and Albion Gomi panv reports that the Karamea arrived at Suva on Friday meaning from London, en route to Port Chalmers, Lyttelton and Nelson. She will leave Suva on Wednesday, and is due at Port Chalmers on April 21. TASMANIA POSTPONED. —Wet weather has delayed the loading of the steamer Tasmania at Gisborne. The vessel is now due at Auckland on Friday, and has been allotted a berth at the Queen's Wharf, where she fills up. The Tasmania is now scheduled to leave Auckland oh April 23 for New York, Boston, and West Coasst ports of England, via Panama. The New Zealand Shipping Company are the local loading agents.

TAMAROA LEAVES BALBOA.—The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company has been notified by cable that its liner Tamaroa left Balboa on Thursday morning for Auckland and Wellington, en route from London and Southampton. The vessel is due at Auckland on April 29.

ULIMAROA FROM SYDNEY. —Due at Auckland to-morrow from Sydnej, tne Huddart Parker's intercolonial passenger steamer L'limaroa berths at the Central "Wharf to land her passengers, mails, and cargo. The vessel is scheduled to leave Auckland at 11 a.m. next Friday on her return trip to Sydney.

HAURAKI CLEARED LOS ANGELES —The Union Company has received advice that the motor-ship Haurakj cleared Los Angeles last Wednesday morning with cargo from Pacific Coast ports for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne and Adelaide. She is due about May 3.

THE CANADIAN BRITISH ER.—Cabled advice has been received by the Canadian National Steamships that the Canadian Britisher arrived at Panama’ on April 7 from Halifax, en route to New Zealand. The vessel is due at Auckland on May 7 and at Wellington about May 13.

REMUERA LEAVES LONDON.—The New Zealand Shipping Company's liner Remuera left London last Thursday, and Southampton on Friday for Wellington, Napier and Auckland. She is due at Wellington on May 17, and at Auckland about May 26. Captain A. McKellar, late commander of the Ruapehu, is now in command of the Remuera.

RARANGA LOADING. —Now loading at Auckland under the agency of A. S. Paterson and Co., the Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer llaranga is to leave here on Friday for Wellington, where sue completes her loading, and finally aeparts on April 24 for London and West Coast ports of England, via Montevideo and Teneriffe.

TOFU A RETURNING.—A radio message received by the local office of the Union Company states that the Island passenger steamer Totua is expected to arrive in the stream at 3.30 p.m. to-day from Suva. About an hour later sue berths at the Queen’s Wharf to land her passengers, mails, and cargo. Tpc vessel is scheduled to leave Auckland at 11 a.m. next Saturday on her return trip to Fiji, Tonga, and Samoa.

AELYBRYN TO DOCK.—Henderson and Aiacfarlane advise that the steamer Aelybryn. now completing her discnaive of Nauru phosphates at Wanganui, leaves there to-morrow for Westport for bunkers, thence she returns to Auckland on April 22 for (locking. The following day the Aelybryn leaves Auckland for Nauru or Ocean island to load for New Zealand or Australia.

BROCKABECK REPORTS.—A further radio message received by Mr. G. Wallace Bews states that the steamer JSroclv-

abeck is now expected to arrive at Auckland to-morrow from the River Plate. The vessel is bringing a cargo of linseed for discharge at Auckland and Sydney and has been allotted a berth at the King's Wharf to unload the local portion of her cargo.

OTIRA LATE.—Leaving Oamaru today for A\ aikoK.opu and Auckland, uxe Shaw, Savill, and Albion steamer Otira. is due at this port on Friday next to continue her loading under tne agency of L. D. Nathan and Company. She is expected to sail from this port again next Monday lor Wellington, where sue completes her loading, and finally departs on April '27 for London, via Montevideo and Teneriffe.

TAINUI BERTHS.—This morning the Shaw, Savill, and Albion steamer Tainui arrived at Auckland from 'Wellington, and later berthed at the Princes Wharf to complete her discharge of London cargo and to commence loading for her return voyage under the auspices of A. S. Paterson and Company. From this port the Tainui proceeds to Opua, thence Napier, Timaru, and 'Wellington, to fill up She is scheduled to leave Wellington finally at daybreak on May 9 for Southampton and London, via Panama.

ALTERATION OF LIGHTS.-A Gazette notice Mates that the fixed white light on the brow of South Head Bluff, Manukau Heads, lias been replaced by a group-flashing white light showing two flashes every 30 seconds, thus, flash one second, feelipse one second, flash one second, eclipse 27 seconds. The visibility of the light is 18 miles. It is intended to alter Cape Egmont light from a fixed light to a group-flash-ing showing three flashes every 40 seconds. The alteration of the light will take place about July, 1929. The black conical buoy at Stirling Point, Foveaux Strait, has been replaced by a lighted buoy having a flashing red light showing one short flash every 1.5second; that is, 40 flashes every minute (approximately).

BARON FAIRLIE IN PORT—Early this morning the steamer Baron Fairlie arrived ill the stream at Auckland from Port Arthur, Texas, and later berthed at the Western Wharf to unload the local portion of her cargo un%er the agency of Robert Millar and Company. The remaining rargo will be unloaded at Wellington. Melbourne, Bunbury and Fremantle. The vessel left the Texas port, on March - f » and experienced moderate. weather throughout. Tt is hoped to dispatch the vessel from here on Thursday next.
