OPENING PROGRAMME

Th® 1929 harrier season in Auckland Is to begin at Carlaw Park on Saturday next. Because the Auckland Rugby League will be conducting a tournament tlie athletic events on this occasion will be cor.6n®d to a 75yds sprint handicap, a put ting-the-shot handicap and a stf plechase handicap over one and aba ? miles. The events start at 2 p.m. Nominations close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday next with Mr. G. R. Metcalfe. Public Trust Office. Th® last winter sports competitions were so successful that great hopes are held out for this season. Several exttouthern harrier runners may be maktheir appearance In Auckland.
