DISEASED PIGS SOLD
ALARM AMONG BREEDERS Press Association PALMERSTON N., Friday. At a meeting of the Manawatu-Oroua branch of the New Zealand Pig Breeders’ Association the allegation, was made that disease in pigs was being spread through infected animals being oeffred for sale in auction narts. The remedy suggested was that auctioneers should be asked to revert to the old practice of announcing the vendor’s name when making a sale, it being felt that the resultant publicity would deter vendors from offering diseased stock. It was decided to approach the district auctioneering firms with a view to discovering whether something could be done in this direction.
