The first annual report of the Thames-Hauraki Hockey Association by the president Mr. L. Crawfordatson, states that last season was ! begun rather late with four teams | from affiliated clubs. Through injuries to players and members leaving the district Xgate a was unable to field a team throughout, the season. * The representative team played three matches during the season, losing to Waihi and Tauranga. and drawing with Auckland. The B team suffered two defeats, but when it is considered that it was the first season s hockey for many players the results were not discouraging. This was borne out by the good showing put up by the team which entered for the White Horse Cup, and fully extended the eventual winners. The cup given by Mr. Gage-Brown was won by the Kopuarahi Club. Time did not permit the play-off for the Crease Cup, the association deciding to hold a seven-a-side tournament, which, despite bad weather, was successful. The women’s shield was won by the Thames C.O.G. Club and the cup by the Thames team. The latter had handed back the trophy to the association. The prospects for the coming season were good and should the visit of the Australian touring team eventuate it was assured that Thames would be included in their itinerary. The possibility of the visit wa* due entirely to the fact that there was now a suitable ground. A great deal of work had been done at Rhodes Park in conjunction with the Thames Rugby Union, which had given great assistance to this association. GAME AT TE AROHA Te Aroha men’s and women’s hockey met conjointly this week when last season's progress was reviewed, and plans made for the coming winter.
