INCREASE OF OVER 100
UNEMPLOYED IN AUCKLAND A large increase in the number of unemployed in Auckland is shown by the weekly figures supplied by the Labour Department this morning. During the past week 1,031 men registered as out of work, compared with 921 last week. Of this week’s total 867 men were classed as fit for heavy work and 164 for light work. The figures for the previous week were 771 and 147. During last week 23 men were placed in employment, compared with 94 for the week ending April 6.
