SIR LESLIE SCOTT
CONSERVATIVES TO LOSE VALUED MEMBER (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) RUGBY, Thursday. Sir Leslie Scott, Conservative member for the Exchange division of Liverpool, and Solicitor-General in the Coalition Government, has decided not to seek re-election at the forthcoming General Election, on the grounds of ill-healtli. Sir Leslie Scott is one of the most eminent members of the Bar, and his loss will be felt by his party. His chairmanship and membership of a number of war-time committees set up to deal with questions of the reconstruction of agriculture, housing, mining, electricity, etc., indicate the part he has taken in public affairs. PACTS IN LANCASHIRE CONSERVATIVES AND LIBERALS (Australian and A".Z. Press Association) LONDON, Wednesday. Two election pacts have been arranged in Lancashire. The Conservatives have decided to support the sitting Liberal member lor Accrington. Air. J. 11. Edwards, and the Liberals to, support the Conservative candidate for Nelson and Colne against the sitting Labour member. Mr. A. Greenwood.
