FIRE DESTROYS FLATS
BLAZE IN MELBOURNE MAN BADLY INJURED MELBOURNE, Thursday. A fire occurred in a large building in St. Hilda Road to-day and destroyed 14 of the 32 flats known as Florida Flats. There were several thrilling rescues. The firemen brought out a number of women, and fouri'd Clive Delaney, aged 34, groping his way through the smoke at the top of a staircase. They sent him down the fire escape, but not before he had been severely burnt on the face and arms. He was sent to hospital.
