“BIG CITY” AT BRITANNIA
Lon Chaney with a strong cast and two leading women is the attraction at the Britannia Theatre this evening, where “The Big City” will be screened. Betty Compson, who has not played with Chaney since the time both won stellar fame in “The Miracle Man.” plays the accomplice of the gangster chief, portrayed by Chaney in the new production, and Miss Day the heroine as a shopgirl, innocently enmeshed in their plots. James Murray plays the shopgirl’s sweetheart, a young gangster. The play is a vivid romance of New York night life and the underworld. A sensational hold-up in a fashionable night club, a police battle and other thrilling details surround the romance of the shopgirl and the two gangsters. “For Alimony Only,” starring Leatrice Joy and Clive Brook, will also be shown.
