CAMP FOR CHILDREN
CITY MISSION’S EFFORT With 50 children of the poor who would otherwise have had no holiday, the Rev. Jasper Calder. Anglican city missioner, left by launch this morning for Surfdale. near which a camp has been established. Last year a similar undertaking was carried out at "Waiheke. The mission has secured a splendid site and a cookhouse has been built The children will be accommodated under canvas and a marquee has been erected as a dining hall. Next year it is hoped to have wooden huts as sleeping quarters. Sister Pat, who is in charge, is assisted by voluntary workers. The children are drawn from all denominations. It is intended to give the 50 children a fortnight’s holiday. They will be succeeded immediately by another camp of 50. The holiday will be spent in all manner of outdoor recreation, of which swimming and fishing will be the chief
