Ellerslie To-Morrow
Acceptances and Prospects
Splendid fields have been paid up for on the second day of the Auckland Racing Club’s summer meeting, which is set down for tomorrow at Ellerslie, and the sport promises to be every bit as good as yesterday's. There are eight events on to-mor-row’s programme, the most important being the Summer Cup and the King’s Plate, the latter a weight-for-age contest run over a mile. There is a fine field engaged in the handicap event, and it should develop into a stirring struggle. In the King’s Plate are some wellknown performers* the race presenting an open appearance. The other races on the card have filled very well. The course unfortunately was well cut up yesterday, and the damp conditions prevailing to-day will not assist t,o dry the turf, so that the going tomorrow will again be soft. If further rain falls to-night the state, of the track will be heavy. The following are expected to come in for keen support in their engagements to-morrow, with the present atmospheric conditions being given full consideration: Handicap. ARIKITOA and LUNETTE. King’s PIate.— AUSSIE and PRODICE. Ponsonby Hurdles. WHARNCLIFFE and POURI. Summer Cup.— BRIGHT GLOW and PEGAWAY. Criterion Handicap.— GEM LIGHT and EAGLET. Waitemata Handicap.— METELLUS and CYBELE. Electric Handicap.— AWAßEßE and SILVERMINE. Plunket Handicap.— KlNG LU and GOLDEN WEDDING. The following are the acceptances for to-morrow’s racing: FEkGUSSON HANDICAP Of £400; 1 mile.
