“ Drought” Breaks in Ashburton
Press Association ASHBURTON, Tc-day. being dry for 25 years, Ashburton to-day possesses a bar for the sale of liquor, the Ashburton Club and Mutual Society of Arts having opened one
in consequence of the changed conditions resulting from the constitution of the Mid - Canterbury electorate. The club nas yearly paid an annual fee on its charter, thus keeping it alive in anticipation of “wet” conditions returning. Membership of the club is limited to 600.
