GAOL FOR MAU LEADER
TAMASESE SENTENCED CONTEMPT AND OBSTRUCTION (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) APIA, Thursday. Tamasese, leader of the Mau, was to-day sentenced to six weeks’ imprisonment for contempt of Court in having refused to satisfy a judgment summons for unpaid taxes. On a charge of resisting and obstructing the police in the execution of their duty on the occasion of his arrest, Tamasese was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment. The sentences are to be cumulative.
