NEARLY RODE TO DEATH
MOTOR-CYCLIST WILL HAVE TO WALK (From Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, Wednesday. Charged in the Hamilton Magistrate’s Court to-day with motor-cycling at a dangerous speed at Cambridge, Ernest Harker, 21, was fined £l, his driver’s licence was cancelled and he was prohibited from holding another licence for 12 months. Senior-Sergeant Sweeney said that on October 7 defendant rode a motorcycle through the main street at Cambridge at a speed estimated at 50 miles an hour. When he crossed the railway his machine jumped into the air and defendant was thrown and very seriously injured. He nearly died as the result of his injuries. Mr. Strang said defendant received a blow on the head and had the vaguest recollection of the incident.
