CYCLING ACCIDENTS

THREE SMASHES YESTERDAY Three cyclists were hurt in falls from their machines in and about Auckland yesterday. Mr. Frank Shaw, aged 70, of 39 Union Street, was carrying a heavy weight on the handle bars of his bicycle down Union Street. The handle bars became locked, and the cycle ran into the kerb, and Mr. Shaw was thrown off. He was taken to hospital by the St. John Ambulance with a deep wound in his head, but his condition this morning is reported to be satisfactory. A boy named Beckett was knocked down by a tram while riding his bicycle in Newmarket yesterday morning. One of his hands was crushed, and one foot badly cut. The St. John Ambulance took him to hospital, where he was treated in the casualty ward and allowed to go home. He lives at 2 Auburn Street, Khyber Pass. A small boy, aged seven, Norman Edwards, of 17 O'Rourke Street, Penrose, was knocked down by a cyclist near his home yesterday’. He was admitted to hospital, but his condition Is not serious.
