Doctors & Wives at Garden Party

Dr. &Mrs C. E. Maguire Entertain at Home Yesterday afternoon Dr. and Mrs. C. E. Maguire grave a very enjoyable garden party at their home in the hospital grounds in honour of the members of the Auckland Division of the British Medical Association and their wives. The function followed the annual meeting of the B.M.A. and was mad© even more delightful by the brilliant summer day which favoured it. Tables were arranged around the lawns, which were attractive in their greenness against which the flowerbeds stood out in a wealth of colourful beauty. In the house, restful rooms were decked with tall vases of flowers, and tea was served in the dining-room, drawing-room and study. Mrs. Maguire was wearing a dainty frock of navy blue and ivory iigured georgette, mounted over a slip of pale orange crepe and softened with jabots of ivory georgette. Her liat was of small shape with a crown of soft orange silk and a navy blue brim. WOMEN’S CLUB MEETS The Women’s Bridge Club at Te Aroha held its concluding bridge evening for the season on Tuesday, in the Parish Hall. Miss Frood and Miss Ford were the hostesses. The highest score for the evening was won by Mrs. Kenrick, and Mrs. Sneddon gained the highest number of points for the season. QUAINT FAVOURS AT CHILDREN’S PARTY

All enjoyable party was given last Saturday afternoon by Mrs. J. Johnston, of Cheltenham Beach, for her two little daughters, Jacqueline and Betty. Competitions and dancing occupied most of the programme, and beautiful French favours were presented to each young guest before leaving Among those present were: Tess Carte-Lloyd.
