The peace in industry conference between representatives of the employees and the employers begins on December The four members of the British Economic Delegation have agreed to attend to render assistance. The four members of the British Economic Delegation are Sir Harry D. McGowan, K. 8.1-:., Sir Ernest Clark, Sir Hugo Hirst, l>art., and Mr. Dougal Orm Malcolm. Sir Harry McGowan is chairman and managing director of Nobel Industries, Ltd., and a director of Canadian Explosives, Ltd. He was born in Glasgow and is 54 years of age. Sir Harry was knighted in IIUS. Sir Hugo Hirst 1* chairman and managing director of the General Electric Co., Ltd., and a leading figure in British commercial l s fe. lie was educated at Munich and is member of the Constitutional. Portland, Now Oxford and Cambridge Clubs. Sir Ernest Clark was formely Permanent Secretary to the Treasury in Northern Ireland. lie was educated privately at King's College. London. After being called to the Bar, Middle Temple, in 1594. he held many important positions. In 1904 he was lent to the Cape Government for special duties, and became Assistant Secretary for Inland Revenue in 1910. In 1920 he was secretary to the Royal Commission on Income Tax. A keen sportsman. he is greatly interested in golf and fishing. Mr. D. O. Malcolm, who is nearly 51 years of age, had a. distinguished university career, and later held responsible oiTices under the Crown. He is a member of the executive committee of directors of the British South African Company, and a director of several other companies. He was educated at Eton and Oxford. Mr. Malcolm entered the Colonial Office in 1900, and acted as private secretary to Lord Selborne in South Africa from Jlios to 1910. He was appointed secretary to Lord Grey in Canada in 1910, and joined the Treasury in 1912.
