t Times Cable. Reed. 10.48 a.m. LONDON, Sunday. The Riga correspondent of “The Times” says the Soviet has degraded 14 professors (membors of the Academy of Sciences) resident at Leningrad, for defaming the Soviet, regime abroad, by participation in a volume devoted to archaeology and art, published at Prague. It specially resented the Academician, Dr. Zhebeleff, writing a biography of the archaeologist Smirnoff, who died in 1918, declaring that he was fortunate in dying then, because he avoided an evil decade.
