HAMILTON HOUSE BURNED
NO WATER MAINS AVAILABLE (From Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, To-day. Fire completely destroyed a fourroomed house occupied by Mr. Albert Terry in Gurnell Street, beyond No. 1 bridge, early this morning. When the brigade arrived the building was enveloped in flames, threatening to ignite the house of Mr. Asher Robinson next door. As the locality is beyond the fire area, the brigade could not obtain water from the mains, but hoses were attached to Mr. Robinson’s tanks and a good save was effected. Mrs. Terry and two children escaped safely and some of the furniture was saved. $ Mr. Robinson’s house was insured for £1,200, and the furniture for £350 in the State Fire Office. Insurance figures on Mr. Terry's house are not available.
