45 KNOWN DEAD
RUMANIAN SMASH SIGNALMAN’S FATAL ERROR (United P.A.—By Telegraph—Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) BUCHAREST, Saturday. The tragic railway disaster at Slatina, Rumania, on Friday, in which over 60 people were killed, was due to the error of a signalman, which caused the Bucharest train to be sent on to the wrong line. The signalman has disappeared. Forty-five are known to be dead, though, according to various reports, there are still corpses in the debris. More than 50 were seriously hurt.
