British motor manufacturers are penetrating the Dominion markets is shown in the Overseas Trade Returns for July, which have recently been published. 1 According' to these, 1,346 touring cars ! wero shipped during the month. Com- ' pared with the same month last year, New Zealand increased her orders from 25 to 151 cars, South Africa from 122 to 100. and the Irish Free State from 232 to 444. In addition, 649 complete light chassis were sent to Australia, as compared with 268 in the corresponding month of 1927. Reports from India also show that the number of British cars and buses imported during the year has steadily increased, and while not many years ago a large percentage of cars in India were of other than British manufac- i ture, in Madras, at any rate, now, nearly half of them are of British manufactur e.
