FIVE FRAUD CHARGES
CHRISTCHURCH MAN PLEADS GUILTY Pleading guilty at the Police Court this morning to five charges of obtaining money by valueless cheques Leonard Montmorency Reynolds, was remanded until tomorrow, so that inquiries could be made about him. The total amount fraudulently obtained by Reynolds was £l2. He suggested as an excuse that his own account had been overdrawn. Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M.: Of course, it was. You knew that; it is the reason for the charge. As far as Chief-Detective Hammond knew, Reynolds had cashed bogus cheques in Auckland and Helensville. Apart from the fact that he was out of work and came from Christchurch nothing was known of him.
