“UNCLE TOM’S CABIN” The classic story of the American slaves, "Uncle Tom's Cabin,” will be shown at the Everybody’s Theatre again this evening. “Uncle Tom’s Casin’’ is a story that abounds in dramatic incidents, but perhaps the most pathetic is the scene in the slave market when Uncle Tom is sold. Four auctioneers are busily disposing of the human and inanimate chattels of the Sst. Clare estate to uninterested crowd of traders,* stockm-u, dandies, plantation owners. Southern belles and labour agents. In one corner a g descants on the virtues of a hand.ome mulatto girl to a group of smirking young bloods; on • second auctioneer disposes of a collec - tion of furniture and hardware: at a third station squealing and bellowing livestock are the points of interest while in a fourth corner poor lnc‘e Tone is being transferred from a comfortable home to an uncertain and fatal I future., LOVES OF CARMEN” AT CAPITOL The picture. “The Loves of Carmen,” adapted from the well-known opera, “Carmen.” will be shown at the Capitol Theatre this evening. Heading the cast is Victor McLaglen, whose recent characterisation of Captain Flagg firmly established him as one of the most talented players appearing before the camera. In this picture the stalwart actor portrays the role of Escamillo. In the pivotal feminine role is Dolores Del Rio, who likewise won millions of admirers because of her portrayal of Charmaine in “What Price Glory. Miss Del Rio is seen as Carmen” a role which fits her fiery temperament as naturally as old lace , fits lavender. t The enjoyable comedy. “Circus 1 Rookies,” starring Karl Dane and l George K. Arthur, will also be shown.
“The River Pirate.” Charles Francis Coe’s sensational novel of modern buccaneers, has been purchased by Fox Films and made into a feature photoplay. Victor McLaglen is cast in the title role, and Nick JStuart has the rolo of Sandy. Lois Moran plays the part of Marjorie, while Donald Crisp and Earle Foxe also have featured role*.
