FOR SUMMER TIME
LOCAL DAYLIGHT SAVING FAVOURED
SUPPORT FROM MANY BODIES The Auckland ‘DayJight Saving League, considering that it has done all in its awaits the result of the second reading of the Summer Time Local Empowering Bill. At a meeting of the league held last evening, it was reported that 220 bodies had forwarded resolutions of support, while others that had been unable to meet showed that there was approval in their ranks. Supporters of the Bill included the City Council, the Dovonport, Mount Eden and Newmarket Borough Councils, the Manufacturers’ Association, the Employers’ Association, and the United Fire Brigades’ Association. It was decided to send telegrams to the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition, and Auckland members, asking their support for the Bill.

ONEHUNGA SUPPORTS SUMIWER TIME “The community derived great benefit from daylight saving last* summer,” said -Mr. T. Moor at the Onehunga Borough Council meetiug last evening. A le.tter from the Summer Time Committee invited support of the Bill tvliich goes before Parliament tomorrow favouring the scheme, and it was proposed that no action should ba taken. Mr. Moor moved as an amendment that the council should support the measure, and Mr. I’. S. Morton said that summer time had been of- benefit to school children. The Mayor would not accept the amendment, and Mr. 1\ R. Bipscomtoe said the measure should not be supported in the interests of sport. The motion to take no action was defeated by four votes to 3, and the amendment, as a fresh motion, was carried by the same votes.
